Who We Are
The Atlanta History Center, founded in 1926 as the Atlanta Historical Society, is one of the Southeast's largest and most comprehensive history museums. The 33-acre Buckhead campus features the Swan House (1928 mansion), Smith Family Farm (1860s farmhouse), Wood Family Cabin, Goizueta Gardens, and the Atlanta History Museum with extensive Civil War and Atlanta history collections including the iconic Battle of Atlanta Cyclorama painting. The Midtown campus includes the Margaret Mitchell House & Museum, birthplace of Gone With the Wind. The Kenan Research Center houses one of the nation's premier archival collections.
