Center for Puppetry Arts
Who We Are
Founded in 1978 by Vincent Anthony in a former elementary school building, the Center for Puppetry Arts is the largest organization dedicated to puppetry in North America. The center focuses on three areas: performance (500+ performances/year for children and adults), education (50+ outreach and on-site programs plus a Digital Learning program reaching all 50 states and 9 countries), and museum (nearly 5,000 puppets and artifacts, including the world's largest collection of Jim Henson Muppet artifacts). The Center partners with the Jimmy Carter Library & Museum and attracts 180,000 visitors annually. Executive Director Beth Schiavo has guided the organization through transformative growth.
